Roger A. ParkinsonPartnerBakersfield Office Roger A. Parkinson is a Partner in the Bakersfield office of Borton Petrini, LLP, with long experience in the areas of corporate, insurance law, and litigation. Roger is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. After graduating from Stanford University and Stanford Law School, where he served on the Board of Editors of the Stanford Law Review, he served as a law clerk for the California Supreme Court before joining the law firm of Landels, Ripley & Diamond in San Francisco. He was a member, and then managing partner of the Los Angeles office of Long & Levit and its successor, Parkinson, Wolf, Lazar & Leo, and of Parkinson & Martinsen. Roger has also served as corporate secretary and counsel to Insurance Securities Incorporated in San Francisco, the Trust Fund, which had the world’s largest portfolio of insurance stock, and which had subsidiary life and property and casualty companies. Throughout his career, Roger has practiced in both business counseling and litigation, specializing in large cases. Counseling and lawsuits have been in several of the same areas, including securities, intellectual property, trade regulation (pricing and antitrust law), and various areas of insurance. He has also been an arbitrator for the superior court, the National Association of Securities Dealers and a large HMO. Roger has extensive experience as a litigator handling notable trade regulation, securities, professional liability, and fire cases. He is a national lecturer for the Practicing Law Institute, including its super course on Litigation Management, and is a PLI lecturer on securities laws. Roger also lectures on the computerized systems for organizing proof and trial that he invented. Roger’s many years of practicing law in such diverse areas have given him a solid background in a wide variety of legal matters. His familiarity with both business counseling and trials has improved him at each. At Borton Petrini, LLP, Roger has continued as before, concentrating his practice in the areas of business litigation, insurance law, real estate, construction law, and health care law. Roger leads appellate practice of the Firm. Roger keeps up with the ever-changing legal world through his membership in several professional organizations. He belongs to the Kern County Bar Association, the Professional Liability Bar Association, American Society of Corporate Secretaries and Business Sections of California and American Bar Associations. |
