Mark S. NewmanPartnerSacramento Office Mark S. Newman is the Managing Partner of Borton Petrini, LLP’s Sacramento office and served as the Regional Managing Partner for Borton Petrini, LLP’s San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Modesto, Redding and Santa Rosa offices for five years. Mark received his undergraduate education from the University of California, Davis, graduating with honors in 1977. He attended law school at McGeorge School of Law, earning his J.D. in 1982 and a lifetime membership in the Traynor Honor Society. Mark’s particular expertise is in cases involving construction-related litigation, insurance law, employment practices, and elder abuse. Mark’s experience with construction cases includes defect and injury litigation. He has represented many industry leaders including McCarthy Construction, Granite Construction Company, Lennar Homes and Kimball Hill Homes. His experience with products liability issues includes representation of such clients as United Technologies Corporation, Daisy, Dictaphone Corporation, Pro-Flame Gas Company, Obagi Medical Products and Georgia-Pacific. He also has litigated multiple cases involving public entity defense, insurance bad faith, director and officer liability, agricultural practices, attorney malpractice, realtor errors and omissions, and environmental law, and has served as a consulting attorney for Rotary International. Mark keeps up on information that can best benefit his clients through his affiliation with several professional organizations. His memberships include the State Bar of California, the Sacramento County Bar Association, the Association of Northern California Defense Counsel and the Building Industry Association. Mark is a published author, having written more than 50 articles for California Defense magazine and numerous other trade publications. Of course Mark takes his responsibilities towards his clients very seriously, but he treats readers of California Defense to a lighter look at the law through his “Amicus Curious” column; these amusing pieces tackle such topics as “To Do it Yourself or Not: That is the Question” and “Fast Food, Fast People, Fast Cars: How High the Price?” Mark’s unique flair for communication makes him a popular guest speaker; he has spoken for countless civic and trade organizations. Mark is married to Mary Newman and has four children, Casey, Micaela, Kate and Makenzie. |
